I found this quote and feel that the photographer with a camera also has the universe in his/her mind and hands.  The challenge lies in how we capture the universe creatively using our cameras.

As you may already know, I am absolutely wild about sunflowers.  I derive great joy going to the sunflower fields in my surrounding area each summer.   I will spend hours on different occasions in the fields.  I challenge myself, during each outing, to come back with something  I have not captured before.  As I spend more and more hours in the fields, this becomes a greater challenge.

I will start with traditional sunflower images.

I then begin looking for flowers with “character”.  I found these sunflowers and couldn’t help but think of two headstrong people butting heads.

After taking in the overall scene, I wanted to get a closer look.  Using my extension tubes, I began to explore.  I was amazed at what I found.

The details of the sunflower were incredible through my macro lens with the extension tubes attached.

There were many critters making their homes on the sunflowers.

I found that I was drawn to the shapes and colors of the profile of a sunflower.

The  next time you go to photograph a place or subject that you have photographed many times before, challenge yourself to create a different composition than one you have made before.  The more you look, the more you will see!

If you missed my blog post about my first visit to the sunflower fields this summer, you will find it here.
