“No city could be more beautiful than Charleston during the brief reign of azaleas, no city on earth.”

One of my favorite things about spring in my area of the country is the blooming azaleas.  I typically spend weeks photographing their magnificent display throughout the Lowcountry.

This spring, I began my azalea tour in one of my favorite gardens, Magnolia Plantation and Gardens, located in Charleston, South Carolina.

In addition to Magnolia Plantation and Gardens, I also explored Brookgreen Gardens, located in Murrells Inlet, South Carolina.  There I found beauty being spotlighted.

Although I enjoyed all of the gardens that I visited to view the azaleas, I think I most enjoyed the Swan Lake Iris Gardens, located in Sumter, South Carolina this spring for the combination of blooming azaleas and wildlife.

I feel so fortunate to live in an area that has distinct seasons.

Spring and Fall are my favorite seasons to photograph due to the vibrant colors that each season presents.  As temperatures hint at becoming cooler, I look forward to photographing the upcoming changing of the seasons.
