Florida Botanical Gardens – Largo, FL2 min read time

The Florida Botanical Gardens in Largo is one of the gems of Pinellas County.  This is a large garden off of Ulmerton Rd, one of the busiest roads in Tampa Bay.   If you would like to take a break from the beach or the urban bustle, the Florida Botanical Gardens is an oasis of plants, butterflies, bees, birds, and a little Florida wilderness.

The “Gardens” have a long array of paths and trails.  Most are paved and wide.  They wind through food gardens, palm gardens, ferns, herbs, tropicals, annuals, vines, roses and so much more.   The paths go around wild looking ponds and waterways crossed by interesting bridges.  There are gazebos, benches and lawn chairs strategically placed so you can sit back, relax and enjoy your surroundings.

This is a Pinellas County park that has been a favorite of mine for many years.  There is a large variety of plants and flowers which gives so many things to photograph through the seasons.

Florida Botanical Gardens is a great venue for other types of photography such as portrait & engagement shoots.  There are many areas that are separated from the adjacent areas so they can be used as venues for weddings and parties and they are available for rent.  They are also a terrific place for education about the flora and fauna in our area.  Check out their website for the latest events and classes.

I just love to walk around and take a path that I have not been down for awhile and see what is blooming now!   I found a Lotus this time!   This is not a flower we see in Florida very much!

If you live in or visit the Tampa Bay area I highly recommend the Florida Botanical Gardens for a relaxing and refreshing change from the beach and the cities.

That is all for now!
